Upper Mustang feels like stepping into a different world - a high altitude Tibetan plateau landscape with ancient monasteries, cave cities and the walled royal capital of Lo Manthang at 3,840m.
The Mustang jeep track cuts through red canyon walls, crosses high passes and follows the Kali Gandaki river gorge toward the Tibet border.

Muktinath is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and 108 waterspouts surround the temple.
The nearby Jwala Mai Temple has an eternal flame burning from underground natural gas - a sacred fire believed to have burned for thousands of years.

Rara Lake is Nepal's largest lake and one of its most remote destinations. Located in Mugu district at 2,990m, the lake sits inside Rara National Park.
The water changes color through the day - shifting from deep blue to turquoise to silver. Very few travelers reach Rara, making it a powerful Nepal experience.

Ghandruk is a traditional Gurung village in the Annapurna foothills at 1,940m, with stone-paved lanes, Gurung architecture, a cultural museum and tea gardens.

For Upper Mustang we strongly recommend the Scorpio 4WD Jeep. The Mustang jeep track is a rough mountain road that requires a 4WD vehicle - especially from Beni to Lo Manthang.
The Upper Mustang tour requires a restricted area permit in addition to the standard ACAP permit. For our Upper Mustang Tour package the restricted area permit is arranged by us. Please bring your original citizenship card or passport.
March to November is the best season for Upper Mustang. It lies in a rain shadow area, so it receives very little monsoon rainfall. Popular months are April, May, September and October.
Yes. All our tour packages include full board meals - breakfast, vegetarian lunch and non-vegetarian dinner. Personal snacks, beverages and meals outside the itinerary are not included.
